ISRO’s 101st Launch Mission Takes Flight, Loses Satellite Minutes Later
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Sunday launched its 101st satellite, EOS-09, aboard the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C61), but it failed minutes later. The 101st launch was done with PSLV-C61, carrying an Earth Observation Satellite, named as EOS-09, that was to be put in a Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO). However, the EOS-09 mission could not be accomplished. According to the ISRO Chief, the PSLV 4-stage vehicle, and performance was normal till the second stage. “We will come back after analysis,” he said. The space agency, in a post on X, said, “Today 101st launch was attempted, PSLV-C61 performance was normal till 2nd stage. Due to an observation in 3rd stage, the mission could not be accomplished.”

Govt earns Rs. 45M above valuation in Vehicle Auction
The President’s office has rejected recent social media and media reports as false, regarding the tender-based sale of government vehicles held on May 15. The office clarified that the sale was conducted transparently under circular 05/2024, with an open government tender process announced via newspapers on April 23. A total of 108 bidders submitted their offers, and tenders were opened publicly at 11:00 a.m. on May 15. Out of 26 vehicles offered, 17 were sold to the highest bidders who had quoted prices exceeding the official government valuations. Nine vehicles remained unsold as no bid met the minimum valuation. The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has expressed serious concerns over the continued misapplication of legal provisions, particularly Section 3 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act, in relation to commemoration events held in the North and East of the country. Pakistan, India agree to extend ceasefire until May 18
Pakistan and India held talks on Thursday and agreed to extend the ongoing ceasefire until May 18, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said. Addressing the parliament, Dar said that the militaries of both countries communicated earlier in the day and reached the decision to prolong the ceasefire, with plans to follow up with political dialogue. “The ceasefire was initially agreed upon on May 10 to last until May 12. SL finalises restructuring package with India
Sri Lanka has formalised a series of debt restructuring deals with the Export-Import Bank of India, covering credit lines and buyer’s credit facilities worth approximately US$ 930.8 million. The Bilateral Amendatory Agreements is part of Sri Lanka’s broader efforts to address its external debt obligations. The agreements were signed on 25 March and 3 April, according to the ministry. The restructuring covers seven Lines of Credit and four Buyer’s Credit Agreements extended by the Indian government. “The conclusion of the bilateral Amendment Agreements will certainly pave the way to developing further the deep and longstanding bilateral relationships between the Government of India and the Government of Sri Lanka,” the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
